Tyler Anderson delivered six scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and striking out six. Zach Neto made an immediate impact in his season debut with an RBI double as the Los Angeles Angels blanked the San Francisco Giants 2-0 on Friday night.
Anderson (2-0) set the tone early, and the Angels’ bullpen followed suit. Brock Burke, Ryan Zeferjahn, and Kenley Jansen each contributed a clean inning to preserve the shutout, with Jansen locking down his 452nd career save. The win ended a four-game skid for Los Angeles.
Giants ace Logan Webb (2-1) was dominant aside from a rough second inning, striking out 12 and walking none across six innings. But after fanning Jorge Soler and Logan O’Hoppe to start the second, he allowed a double to Nolan Schanuel. Returning from right shoulder surgery, Neto smashed a 106-mph double into left-center to put the Angels ahead 1-0.
Kyren Paris followed with a ground ball that deflected off third baseman Matt Chapman’s glove, allowing Neto to score an unearned run and stretch the lead to 2-0.
Jo Adell, batting ninth, had a strong night at the plate with a double and two singles.
Key Moment
In the seventh, with two outs and a runner on first, second baseman Kyren Paris made a highlight-reel backhand stop on a sharp grounder by LaMonte Wade Jr. and fired to first to end the inning and preserve the lead.
