Jorge Soler delivered a dramatic walk-off three-run double in the bottom of the ninth inning, lifting the Los Angeles Angels to a 5-4 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night.

With the Angels trailing 4-2 in the final frame, Kyren Paris drew a four-pitch walk, followed by singles from Zach Neto and Nolan Schanuel to load the bases with nobody out against Blue Jays closer Jeff Hoffman (3-1). After Taylor Ward struck out, Soler ripped a line drive into the left-field corner, clearing the bases for the Angels’ third straight win and a series victory.

The Blue Jays had surged ahead in the seventh inning with five consecutive hits to open the frame. Myles Straw broke a 1-1 tie with an RBI single, and Bo Bichette followed with a two-run single to make it 4-1.

Toronto starter José Berríos was solid, allowing two runs on five hits over six innings. He struck out nine, walked five, and generated 18 swinging strikes. The only blemishes were solo homers by Paris and Yoán Moncada.

Angels left-hander Yusei Kikuchi turned in one of his strongest starts of the season, giving up just one run on five hits over six innings. Brock Burke (3-0) earned the win with a scoreless ninth.

Paris trimmed the deficit in the seventh with a solo shot off Berríos — his second home run in as many nights — setting the stage for the dramatic rally.

Key Moment

Yoán Moncada preserved the Angels’ hopes in the eighth inning with a brilliant defensive play. With two on and one out, he made a diving stop down the third-base line, stepped on the bag, and fired to first to complete a double play and keep the score at 4-2.

Key Stat

The Angels have surrendered nine bunt hits this season, tied with the Marlins for the most in MLB.
