Logan O’Hoppe delivered a go-ahead RBI single. Yoán Moncada followed with a three-run blast in a six-run eighth inning that propelled the Los Angeles Angels to an 8-3 comeback victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night. The win marked just the second in 10 games for the slumping Angels.

Zach Neto scored the tying run on a chaotic play to ignite the rally, and Jo Adell added a solo home run later in the inning. The Angels surpassed five runs in a game for the first time in nearly a month, since April 10.

O’Hoppe’s clutch single broke the 3-3 tie, and Moncada — playing for the first time since returning from a thumb injury — crushed his first homer since September 2023. Adell capped the surge with a no-doubter moments later.

Toronto took an early lead with a first-inning solo homer by George Springer, his fourth of the season, and Anthony Santander briefly put the Jays ahead again with a solo shot in the eighth. The loss was Toronto’s third straight to open a six-game road trip.

Angels starter Tyler Anderson settled in after a rough start and limited Toronto to six hits into the seventh inning. Blue Jays newcomer José Ureña pitched into the fifth inning in his debut for the team — his eighth club in six seasons — after signing Monday.

Taylor Ward ended a 1-for-35 skid with a two-run homer in the first inning that initially gave the Angels a 2-1 lead.

Héctor Neris (1-1) earned the win after relieving Ryan Johnson in the eighth and stranding a pair of runners. Yimi García (0-2) lost after allowing the go-ahead run.

Key Moment

In the bottom of the eighth, Neto drew a walk, stole second, and advanced to third when Alejandro Kirk’s throw sailed past Ernie Clement. He scored on a misplayed bunt attempt by Nolan Schanuel, setting up the explosive inning.

Neto extended his hitting streak to a career-best 11 games with a single in the first.
