Kyle Hendricks delivered a vintage performance and teamed up with three relievers to blank the New York Yankees 4-0 on Tuesday night, extending the Yankees’ scoreless drought to three consecutive games.

The Angels limited the Yankees to just four hits as New York’s offensive woes continued. Manager Aaron Boone shuffled the batting order, placing rookie Jasson Domínguez in the leadoff spot and sliding Paul Goldschmidt to sixth, but the changes failed to spark any offense. The Yankees went 0 for 10 with runners on base and advanced just three men to second.

New York has dropped five straight and scored only five total runs in its last six games. The last time the Yankees endured such a stretch of futility was in August 1968. Their current scoreless streak stands at 29 innings — the longest for the franchise since being shut out in three straight in September 2016.

Aaron Judge’s struggles continued, going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts to the dismay of the Yankee Stadium crowd. He’s now 2-for-19 with 12 strikeouts over his last five games.

Hendricks (5-6) was masterful, striking out nine — his highest total since September 2020 — while walking one and allowing four hits over six innings. Ryan Zeferjahn, Reid Detmers, and Hunter Strickland closed it out with three hitless innings as the Angels notched back-to-back shutouts for the first time since August 2022.

Taylor Ward delivered a two-run single in the fourth inning off Yankees starter Will Warren, who allowed three runs and struck out a career-best 11 over six innings. Luis Rengifo and Nolan Schanuel also chipped in with RBIs for Los Angeles.

Key Moment

Ward’s two-run single — the fourth straight one-out hit in the fourth inning — deflected off third baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s glove, extending the Angels’ lead to 3-0 and breaking the game open.

Key Stat

The Yankees joined the Reds and Rockies as the only teams in MLB this season to suffer three consecutive shutouts. No team has endured four straight blankings since the 2017 Kansas City Royals.
