Corey Seager had three hits and drove in a pair of runs to lead the Texas Rangers to a 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday night, extending their home winning streak to seven games.
Jake Burger also tallied three hits for Texas, marking his first multi-hit performance since joining the team.
Patrick Corbin (1-0) earned his first victory as a Ranger, tossing 5 1/3 solid innings while allowing just one run on six strikeouts and a walk. Luke Jackson sealed the win with a six-pitch ninth inning for his sixth save of the year.
The Rangers did all their damage in the second inning. Dustin Harris doubled and scored on Burger’s RBI single, and Seager followed with a two-run single with the bases loaded and two outs.
Angels starter José Soriano (2-2) was struck, surrendering 10 hits across 5 2/3 innings, though he managed to limit the damage to just three runs.
Luis Rengifo got the Angels on the board in the sixth with an infield RBI single. However, reliever Shawn Armstrong shut down the rally by striking out Jorge Soler with runners aboard.

In a birthday celebration for Rangers manager Bruce Bochy, his grandson Braxton threw out the ceremonial first pitch, with Bochy catching behind the plate. Bochy turned 70, making him the second-oldest active MLB manager behind the Angels’ Ron Washington, who turns 73 later this month.
